In researching his family’s history, Mr. Walker has been able to obtain the Gibson County Marriage
Record of his great grandparents, James L. Fuqua and Mary L. Stewart. The license was applied for on October 19, 1861 and the vows were solemnized on October 22, 1861. We have reproduced a copy of this record for our readers.

The teacher in the upper left-hand corner of this photo is W. N. Walker, Larry Walker’s grandfather. The other two teachers on the right-hand side of the photo are Mr. Crenshaw and Mr. Bailey. On the back of the original photo are the names of all the students. We are sorry but space does not permit us to list all the students. Should you have a question about the identity of the students we will be glad to furnish you a list of names. We would like to point out that Allison Kirk, son of Henry and Mary Fuqua Kirk, is the second student from the left in row 5.
